Be less large and more in charge

Ok, I can’t take credit for that saying, but I love it!! Living in the free world with an abundance of food at our figure tips, food is absolutely the one thing we CAN control!. We alone control what we put in our mouths. At the end of the day, it is most likely we are putting too much in or too much of the wrong things.

Eating right, exercising and getting healthy take some planning. In the time starved world we live in, it can be difficult to make changes. But you absolutely must take charge if you want to be less large and healthier.

When I complained once about exercising, my coach at the time said, “Do one sit up today. Then tomorrow do two sit-ups, the next day 3 and so on.” Often we think we have to throw the baby out with the bath water and change everything up. But remember this is a marathon not a sprint. Do one thing different today and then tomorrow do a second thing different and before you know it your whole life has changed.

For me it was a visit to our good friends Glen and Michelle. At the time they were doing the paleo diet. Being a diet expert (HaHa) I asked about it. One of the things that they were using to get more fruits and veggies in their life was the Nutribullet. I confess, I had wanted a machine that would make shakes, not just smoothies, but one that actually broke down the cell walls of the green to provide the nutrients our body requires. The Nutribullet does that and for much cheaper than other machines. Of course before heading home I purchased my first Nutribullet. From then on, I have had a green shake at least once a day, 6 days per week and still do. It is now part of my daily routine for breakfast. I miss them if I don’t have them. This alone allowed me to shed about 20-25 lbs of fat just by changing this one thing.

It is important that we are making more choices to health than away from health. If everyday you take charge and make more choices towards heath, a year from now your life may look so different. It’s about the small things we do everyday that matter.

Also, don’t beat yourself up about wrong choices, this psychological warfare in the mind is actually detrimental and can cause you to gain weight just because it effects your brain chemistry. Yes, you don’t even have to eat anything bad. Just thinking negatively about yourself can cause you to gain weight. If you feel you have made an unhealthy choice. Just acknowledge that if was not the healthiest of choices. let it go and move on, don’t continue the negative self-talk. Make the better choice next time and feel good that your are making small changes that will last a life time.

It is about stringing these together, meal by meal and day by day that make us healthy. What can you change today that would be beneficial to your health tomorrow?
